Doesn’t every want go “off the beaten path?” Take that road nobody else really goes, but still want to feel like you know where you’re going? Travel somewhere that zillions of people haven’t trekked over?
I know I do…that’s why this blog is called Uncommon Traveling!
A lot of it maybe about the American West, just like the tagline says. But that doesn’t mean you’ll only find out about the exceptionally large states along the Rockies and toward the Pacific. Wherever I travel, you’ll be coming along too, and I hope you enjoy the journey.
I still call myself a Californian, even though I’ve been a happily settled resident of Colorado for a dozen-plus years. That’s why this used to be called the CaliColorado Traveler, and before that Californian in Exile. But some people weren’t quite sure, with both names, if it was about pioneer history, territorial Colorado, banishment from California, or calico crafts.
So with some awesome writing coaches and friends, I’ve now chosen a name that reflects the kind of traveling you would like to do, one that doesn’t follow the typical tourist, even in the most visited places. You’ll find out about the places that most visitors don’t know about, where the locals hang out, times to avoid the massive crowds, and get the feeling of being a traveler…an uncommon one at that.
Roughly every week, you’ll get to see what’s different about places around this beautiful state, my home area of Northern California, Southern California, and so much more.
When I’m not at the keyboard, you can find me traveling, knitting, running, or rooting for the San Francisco Giants, 49ers and Golden State Warriors. I live with the most fantastic husband in the world and two smart and lovely teen daughters.
Come along with me…I promise it’ll be a blast!
